Georgia’s work, influenced by her life growing up in Australia, aims to challenge traditional perspectives by offering a unique view of her world. Her style mixes simple shapes, bold colours as well as neutral textures to create a cartoon-like impression. Georgia’s inspirations are wide but largely stem from the perception of her surroundings and accompanying unconscious influence. Each work tells a story constructed from the artists’ memories where she integrates the real with her imagination to creatively portray scenes.
Georgia was no stranger to the art world when she began painting in 2021 with art lovers and artists in the family. There are many similarities in the practices between Georgia and her late uncle Jeffrey Bren, an Australian artist whose work is held in gallery collections around the country. While the world around Jeffrey and Georgia has many differences, the inspiration behind their process is much the same. Much like Jeffrey, Georgia has felt her quirk created a feeling of displacement with the world around her. The art world is where she always felt at home. They both take scenes from their every day, reimagining and recreating them as their own.
At this early stage in Georgia’s career, she is most recognised for her portrayal of figures, works on unconventional objects and her ‘Poolside’ scenes.
